This week I will be researching about the Wahine disaster. Before I start writing down what I usually write down, what do you know about this topic?
Predictions-
What do I think I know about this disaster?
The only thing I think I know about this, is that it was a huge ship that is called Wahine
What do I think I will find out about this disaster?
I think I will find out when it happened, where it happened and how many people survived and died
Reading Comprehension-
1. What weather conditions caused the Wahine disaster ?

It was travelling to Wellington
3. How many life boats were able to reach land?
Only 3 life boats reached land
4. What were passengers forced to do once the life boats were full?
They were forced to jump and swim to shore
5. Why were rescuers unable to get to the shore?
Because rescue teams couldn’t get through slips that blocked the roads
6. How many people died on the Wahine disaster?
53 people died
